In my dream world I'd love get this camera at a mid-400s price or so. I don't necessarily see it happening, but I think that's my trigger. Maybe I'll get lucky with a price mistake or an accidentally-combined-when-it-shouldn't-have-been sales price+trade in deal. Stranger things have happened. If I have to pay so much, I will buy a SLR camera. Even tough SLR is bulky and all other so called cons, but atleast I will have a better camera and better pictures.

It uses the same sensor as most DSLR's (non-full frame). As such pic quality is as good as those, even in low light. Without the size and weight of a DSLR. The deal breaker for me is the lens. Note quite wide enough for me, and while fast as wide, it is rather pedestrian at the tele end. |

Actually it only has a 1" sensor which is smaller than APS-C and Micro 4/3. Same size as the Nikon mirrorless cameras e.g. J1, V1. Way bigger than the LX7 and the S110 though and pocketable.

My Lumix is dead (its older) so I've been without a camera for a few months now... The wife has a Mark II so I use that (and love the pictures) so now I have a hard time buying anything! For all my research, the NEX series of cameras seems to be what i'm looking for...just waiting for a good price

I have a D5100 which I can't exactly put in my pocket. I wanted a camera that I can almost always have on me that takes "DSLR like" photos. You never know when there is going to be a picture that you just have to capture. I missed several of those moments with my daughter... I got the RX100 a couple weeks ago from Sony because I had a bunch of rewards to use up. Not sure you're going to find a better camera at this size with it's picture quality. If you're looking for this camera and have a junk camera to trade in this is a pretty good deal. I kept waiting for the price to drop myself but it didn't happen and I didn't want to wait any longer. It probably won't happen until someone else comes out with a competitive camera (same size w/ equal picture capabilities) P.S. - If any RX100 owners have any experience with any grips and can recommend one please let me know. My only gripe is that at it's size doesn't allow a great grip. I haven't dropped it yet but I really don't want to
