After using the laptop for a couple of days - my only complaints are the trackpad and the screen. The trackpad is bad - and I do mean back. A third of the time it doesn't even pick up the movement of my finger forcing me to repeat the motion. The trackpad buttons are also incredibly stiff, honestly I don't know what they were thinking in that regard - was this laptop made for bigfoot to use? And I've already mentioned the screen, maybe I just got unlucky but the bottom third of my screen is significantly brighter and more washed out than the rest of the laptop. Maybe I've just been spoiled since I'm coming from an XPS m1530 - but even so, those two flaws were way too much for me, even at $265. So back it goes.
Those two things aside - if they don't bother you, this is probably one of the slickest deals of the year. OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

I have not read much of this thread, so sorry if this was already addressed:
I've read reviews that Lenovo has terrible repair service. I already bought a Toshiba C855D-S5359 for $204.90 thirteen days ago. It's not opened and am wondering if I should get this or the Toshiba C855D-S5350 that's on Frontpage. I have a Samsung and at least I get free phone support with it, and I did need a repair, but they replaced a couple of keys with ones from a different model and did not fix everything I asked them to fix. My point is- I think the customer service is as important as the product and am wondering how Toshiba and Lenovo products and service compare. |

I just picked up one at the OD in Marion, OH. The manager would not accept the Staples coupon because Staples does not carry the G580, and even so would only match the price Staples listed minus the $75 coupon. I drove 45 minutes to get there and bought it anyway because it was such a solid value. Kudos to everyone who got away with the super cheap $265 deal. It's too bad the OD stores coupon policy is hit or miss.

Thanks for the idea on the cable. That IS possible because I send audio out over fiber optic port! |

We were out of warranty and I filed a BBB complaint. Long story short it ended up getting completely fixed to our satisfaction, free shipping both ways and all. We said that if we found suitable Lenovo tech in the future we would buy it and we did, two of the G580!

Walk in as if you own the place making sure interaction is confident but polite. If they say no make sure you're speaking with the manager on duty. If still no, go to another Office Depot if you don't mind spending the time and gasoline. You can also get the Toshiba from Staples which the coupon will work for no problem. Still there are YouTube videos with people running various games on the G580. It's not bad. |

![]() Nothing makes people happier than being told the business has no intentions of following through on its written terms and conditions. I recently had a major chain tell me they wouldn't accept a coupon that said "no expiration date" on it. Won't be going back there ever again. But they saved a buck! I'm actually pretty happy about the OD/OM merger. I could never tell them apart. It was always one trip per year to one or the other to buy the one thing they had that was a good deal. Now I'll only have to make one trip to OfficeMaxDepot. |

I'm not sure if this link will work or not : http://www.ebay.com/csc/Laptops-N...ld=1&rt=nc
But if it doesn't it's just a ebay search for laptops that have sold for $289- recently. They are almost all amd e/c series notebooks. Maybe nice for a small netbook but underpowered for anything other than watching movies really. When you're looking in the sub $300- pricerange for a laptop you can't complain when you find a deal like this one. If there's a problem with the laptop then return it! Don't whine about it here, go find another slickdeal
