Deal Details

Someone posted about this computer before, but I don't know if they realize you can use the new $75 Staples coupon to knock the price down to $265 + tax....I thought I had better alert some people who want to get a great deal on this computer. Here's the link to the computer at Office Depot.....I just picked one up at my local OD here in Nashville

here's a link to the coupon.

Which A6 laptop were you talking about?

Take a look at this one:

http://www.officedepot.com/a/prod...-Computer/

It's also A6, but it's 17", but you might get it for $305 AR/AC.
That's the one I'm trying to get but like I said, Staples won't price match and then take their $75 coupon, and OD won't take the coupon because they said their price is already lower than Staples.

My OD said they won't accept the coupon since that laptop is already cheaper than it is at Staples !!! Did yours give you any problems?
No problems what so ever. I walked in, told them what I wanted, showed the coupon and bam. Bought a second one, not sure why though. May resell.

I just did this and expected it to be turned down. I said to the checkout girl "Do you take Staple's Coupons?". She said yes and took the computer slip and coupon. She then checked their inventory and they were out of stock. She said they could pull inventory from another store about 60 miles away and have it early next week.

$282.81 out the door. Big Grin

We're looking for 17" though

With me, OD didn't want to take the coupon because they were already selling the laptop for $379 which is below's Staples $499 and Staples would only price match to 379 or take the coupon, not both.
Correct.....and thanks for getting that point Wink 17" with 1600x900 was my sticking point over a faster CPU with 15.6" screen at 1366x768. Call us stupid or whatever, but we both stare at 19" or larger screens all day, so going to smaller screen at home just didn't seem right. Currently have 2 older laptops with 15" screens - with even slower CPU and less RAM, they both work fine for our purposes.....just really wanted to upgrade to larger screen......not overly worried that the A6 won't be able to handle what my 2650e was doing!

Bummer. Although, if they were willing to PM to $379 it wouldn't be too bad...it has a $50 rebate, which would get you down to $329. OD selling price is actually $429 - actually shows that on their mobile site....Staples manager actually triple checked because he knew about the rebate.

Of course I didn't tell the manager I had the coupon. Pulled that out after the price adjustment and he had walked away. Handed it to the cashier along with my ink rewards and they all scanned without any problems. Sales guy looked at me and said "coupon? Nice!" Then told me about 3 other customers that had been in purchasing laptops for under $200 (also using the coupon and rewards).

The office depot on colonial and bumby has the absolute worst staff. And they won't accept the coupon. "Oh we can use the coupon based off of staples price." Then I might as well shop at staples. Dumbasses

Couldn't get it to work in Athens. He said as long as Staples has it in stock they will match their price and then use the coupon. Are there any comparable or better laptops at staples for around this price??

I know the thread is still going on, but didn't the coupon expire yesterday?

Oppps, just checked my email and see they sent out another one that is good until 2/23.

That one doesn't exclude the HP G7 laptops.....I actually wanted to get the G7-2270 but the previous coupon specifically exclude the G7 series.

$20 more could've gotten me the i3.

How were you able to PM to $379 when Staples price is $550 with $50 rebate (effective cost being $500)? Since OD's price is $430 OTD if Staples did the PM it would be $480 price and with $50 rebate it would then be same price as OD.

Wondering how you got them to PM at $379 for OTD price plus the $50 rebate? Can you clarify how that transaction went?

I am assuming this coupon would not work if you don't have a staples in your immediate area? I know it's a YMMV kind of deal, but I couldn't find anything on OD website that stated they wouldn't take it. Anyone with experience in this situation?

If latest technology is not matter, why don't make it cheaper with dual core:

Lenovo G580 Dual core $285 - 75 = $210 + tax (one available issaquah, WA).

WOW! Wish I had gotten the tote and free tickets! That is CRAZY. I did get two of the G580's AND used coupon on both two days after purchase though, so I am HAPPY! bounce

Several people gave you some good reasons but here is my take..

Some people seem to think that Lenovo is a Socialist company and exist solely to make products for "the people". IF that were true you would most likely be getting something that looked more like a suitcase and didn't have ANY modern technology.

A Kia is NOT a Lexus and a Lexus is NOT a Rolls Royce Corniche! If you want a computer with more belles and whistles I think we ALL know that you will just have to pay more for it.

WHY so many people got excited about this deal is that it is just about the FIRST time that we've seen so decent a computer for under $400 tax and all, then when you get it for UNDER $300 tax and all?.....Come on! Show us something better for anywhere NEAR the price that satisfies your HIGH expectations and we will consider it.

This is about the fourth person I've encountered that I STRONGLY suspect is just pissed they couldn't get in on the deal for whatever reason. Maybe they couldn't afford a computer at all right now so they want to pretend the deal isn't good to try and make themselves fell better! vomit

You're most welcome! Makes the transition to 8 almost completely painless!

No, you'll have to go back to find my original post.

I was able to get Staples to PM the laptop to $430.....that's OD's price. Their website actually shows the $380 price, but clearly shows the checkout price to be $430. Their mobile site (as pulled up on my phone) showed the $430 price and no mention of the rebate. BUT, the Staples manager was aware of the rebate and went back to his office to verify the actual sales price on the OD website.....he actually printed it out and told the cashier to put in the register.

http://www.officedepot.com/a/prod...-Computer/

The previous user that I was replying to said that Staples would not accept the coupon if they PM'd to OD, but said that Staples had offered to PM to the $380 price. So, if that is really the laptop they are interested in, getting the PM to $380 and still being able to get the rebate is the next best thing to getting the PM to $430 and being able to use the $75 coupon and still getting the rebate. It ends up being $25 more, but still better than paying full price.

Staff might pull that local competitors card on you. Basically, they'll say they only accept local competitors coupons.

Maybe no experience with that exact situation, but plenty of people reporting that OD took the coupon with no problem, and plenty of people saying that OD refused to accept the Staples $75 coupon (some even producing memo that specifically said to NOT take the coupon). I guess it's a YMMV deal.
