Deal Details

Someone posted about this computer before, but I don't know if they realize you can use the new $75 Staples coupon to knock the price down to $265 + tax....I thought I had better alert some people who want to get a great deal on this computer. Here's the link to the computer at Office Depot.....I just picked one up at my local OD here in Nashville

Bought 5. No return, exchange only. What can i do with all these?
You can return them if they're unopened and still sealed.

Either use them, give them to family/friends, or sell them.

I hope you had used the $75 off coupon. If not, try to take the receipt back and get a price adjustment for each laptop. If they only allow one per transaction then try to return and buy each one separately with the coupon.

Would it be wise to call Office Depot before heading there to see if they will accept the competitor's coupon? Or this is one of those things you don't call them about because hush hush?
Don't call. Go there with the attitude that it is no issue and be matter of fact about the purchase. Otherwise they may check with manager, and shoot you down. It is very worth the try to go in person and just get it handled. You have good odds this way. Why would you give them time to think about it?

FYI - I bought this laptop over the weekend. long story short, if you want to retroactively apply a coupon to your purchase and don't want to leave the house, you can do so if you settle for a $50 credit.

tonight i tried calling support and asking for retroactive credit and was told OD does not honor competitors coupons, and even if they did they do not apply coupons to technology items.

HOWEVER, i then tried online chat help. i was told that online chat can not match a competitors coupons, but that OD has a similar coupon for $50. And that's the story of how i received a $50 credit for this laptop while drinking beer in my pajamas.
Any link to the coupon?

No, i never actually saw a coupon. The coupon was mentioned by the online chat rep and he offered to credit $50, and i told him to go ahead.

Do NOT let them tell you they don't accept competitor coupons! http://www.officedepot.com/custom...nt=Default

We will honor competitor's coupons at the local store according to the Office Depot Price Match Policy, which you can find here: ...

I got $80.25 back on both computers and it was EASY! Cool

i'm not a big tech person. could someone please opine as to whether this computer is better than the other hot laptop deal of today, the toshiba at ~$250 (see below)?

I've already tried this at 6 office depots and none have taken it. Two of them used the lame excuse that it would make it too cheap....and they can't sell for under cost. a few others say they can take it as long as the computer you want isn't on sale lol. Seems like OD will honor a competitors coupon.....as long as you aren't getting a good deal. :)

You would think so, right? But it doesn't due to super conservative throttling settings. Anyway the whole Llano based APU thing is hard to explain. Overclocking the Llano based APU is extremely simple on a laptop, it's entirely software based and works on almost all laptops. The newer Trinity based APU are completely locked now.
Cool! Can you undervolt thru software too? All current-gen Intel CPUs can't be overclocked anymore, right?

Definitely go in there politely but firmly. With the intent that if they don't want to honor the coupon you will just bring your computer back. They don't know if you have it new in box or not and they should want to make you happy.

Just be polite but insistent. They actually had to GET a manager for me because they weren't sure how to process it WITHOUT doing a return and repurchase which would have funds tied up on my cards for awhile... shake head
