Yes. This is the old style brush head that allows fluids / stuff to build up inside the chamber. I'm pretty sure all lines except the Essence are the new style head.

Fourth year dental student here. I use a Sonicare every day. I love it. I used to have an Essence. Do yourself a favor and upgrade to one of the higher end models. They are cleaner, and much quieter.

I like Sonicare over oralb. I have a HX6932.
Worth it to pony up over the bottom of the bucket ones as they seem to last a lot longer. The heads across the board don't last.

I have both. Oral-B for work and Sonicare at home. I got the lower models with the replaceable AA batteries. Built in batteries tend to wear out as time goes by. Re: laptop batteries. Personally, I like Sonicare better due to the smaller brush, it feels easier reaching to smaller areas in and around the back of my molars. Also Oral-B has holes in and around the replaceable heads, so I can see toothpaste and residue getting in there.


But honestly, both get the job done.
