For anyone not familiar with the TC's, there is some good (but slightly outdated) info here: http://cpn.canon-europe.com/conte...tenders.do
It's worth noting that most bodies won't AF if your effective max aperture is f/8 or above - so a 2x on an f/4 lens or a 1.4 on a f/5.6. You can sometimes get around this by covering up pins on the TC - or just use an aftermarket TC instead of Canon. |

This lens is only compatible with fixed focal length L-series lenses 135mm and over, as well as the EF 70-200/2.8L, EF 70-200/2.8L IS, EF 70-200/4L, and EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L. |

I'd consider the 70-200mm f4 IS to be the next step up. Yes I think IS is that important. |

Got the lens I ordered. Opened it up and there are scratches on the front element.

Did someone say they got the 85mm f/1.8 for $268 or so? That's a steal, I never see that for less than $300 used.

I've already got a few primes (50 1.8, 40 2.8, 85 1.8) and now the 50 1.4. I wasn't expecting much but so far it's been quite fun with that insanely shallow DOF and low light capabilities.
