Should Netflix copy the Amazon/YouTube advertising model & offer a low-cost alternative?

Would you subscribe to a lower cost _ la Kindle w/ special offers version of Netflix? They could offer a version for $3.99 and have movie trailers at the beginning or featured titles. If they put the advertising at the beginning it will be similar to previews.

This way the experience really isn't interrupted. Crackle has the advertising throughout the movie, but this would be at the beginning.

I can anticipate the results asking this on Slickdeals.net!

I'd go for ads as long as they were only at the beginning/end... If they put add commercials into the middle of things I wouldn't bother.

As for the question... As far as I'm concerned if I'm paying for the content, I don't ever want to see an ad. If I'm not paying and the content is free, yeah, I'll handle the ads.

Yeah, that's what I said. It would be similar to the way YouTube plays at at the beginning. It wouldn't be like Hulu or crackle. I know everyone hates ads. However, if they saved you 50% I bet most people would put up with them. Given that they don't really experience since they are at the beginning or end IMO.
