The only thing these batteries seem to have going for them is the fact that they "contain no harmful contents".
So unless you're an enviro-nazi this is not a good deal.

If you're new to rechargeable batteries spend 10 to 20 minutes goggling the concept. Unless you're a professional photographer burning through AA's everyday in flashes (etc) there's very little purpose to standard NiMH's... stick with the eneloops, they give you the best of both worlds, low discharge and rechargeable.

If you are a pro photographer or find yourself burning through several AA's a day, the best thing you can do is purchase the BEST NiMH's you can find, meaning the highest capacity and a GOOD quality charger like a LaCrosse. Be sure to buy enough to get you through a full day and then some.

battery NOT Lsd = crap

non-LSD batteries will pretty much last only 2 days and it will require charging again. basically, you'll be required to take them out, charge them (for few hours), then put them back in electronics every other day.

not ideal for anything. complete crap.

I bought these last time they were this cheap...the batteries seemed to have leaked in the packaging and have less capacity than advertised. Plus, the charger itself doesn't seem to work. All in all, AVOID!

So, can you get the type you are suggesting with a charger for $10? What type of prices would you have to pay for the set-up you are recommending? I'm guessing there's a pretty big difference in pricing.

Sanyo Eneloop starter kits can be found for $20 at Costco nearly everyday. They're less when on sale. This gives you 8 (i believe) AA's and a so-so charger. Once you have a charger the eneloops are $20 for a 10 pack of AA's or the same ($20) for 12 AAA's. So yes, more to start... a whole $10. But what you get is 4 more AA's... and not just any AA's, but low discharge Sanyo Eneloops, argued by many as the best battery on the market today (except where I already noted). With the batteries you get in this deal, if you put them in your TV remote or a digital camera or charge them and don't use them at all they WILL be dead in about a month, maybe 2. Sanyo eneloops and other low discharge rate batteries will last a year or more in your TV remote or camera (if you are not using it). I have found the inconvenience of standard NiMH batteries far out weigh their ability to be recharged.

There has been a LOT of good advice on here I advise anyone not familiar with these type batteries to read. I've spent loads of money over the years on different rechargeable batteries and I can give a huge history on it, I don't claim to be an expert, just another one of the masses that has "been there done that". In the end what I wrote in my first statement is my advice. Please take it or disregard it as you see fit.

If you're asking about what I've read pro photographers use, then YES, you'll spend at least $100 to get started with a good charger or 2 at $30 to $40 each and you'll be spending $3 to $4 per battery... but when your job depends on it, spend the $ or go home.

I've been given a few non-functioning Westinghouse displays, and all had cheap capacitors that blew or leaked. I have never known this name brand to carry any value higher than the lowest of the low. Coby is better...COBY!
