can i deduct tuition fees and course materials for a single course even though I wasn't a student?

When you say you weren't a student you mean because you had a job? This alone won't disqualify from the Lifetime Learning Credit.
As mentioned above, you can deduct the tuition reported on the 1098-T and also any amounts paid for textbooks and required course materials. |
