Newegg: Shady Tactic???
I ordered a product with $5 rebate from Newegg.Credit card authorization/verification did not go through. I call Newegg customer support. They help put the order through. I was concerned the invoice date would now be outside the rebate promotion period. Rep said he could credit me the $5 once it invoices. He give me his direct email address. He said to email him once it invoices. It invoices and I get an email about it. I forward him that email, with the new invoice date. I haven't heard from him at all. It's been 2 weeks. I ask him for an update. I do not hear back. What do I do next? I'm thinking to forward the email thread to their generic customer service email address. Maybe call customer service again? Return the product? Thanks! |

btw I don't buy anything from Wal Mart let alone wi-fi service. I don't see why anyone would want to shop there in the first place. But then there's a Home Depot and several other stores right across the street from them in my neck of the woods. I haven't been to Wal Mart in years.

I must say, I'm pretty impressed with Newegg (if it is indeed them) to even find this thread on SD and communicate/follow-up. Props to them! |

Now companies like E-bay and E-lance are stupid. They hire people to monitor the internet, but their reps do not identify themselves as paid shills. Their reps try to act like they are regular users of E-bay / E-lance and love it and think it is the best thing since sliced bread. Then they get called out because somebody does a little bit of research and finds out what is going on. Can't get away with lying, not for long; I've always felt that honesty is the best policy. Anonymity has its uses on the Internet, but there are limitations, and I'm not sure some corporate types understand all the limitations and permutations and potential situations. I like NewEgg in general, but what I don't like about NewEgg are the dodgy rebates from certain manufacturers, which gives NewEgg a little bit of guilt-by-association, although I will say NewEgg is responsive to complaints. They need to get firm with their suppliers and say, "Look, honor your damn rebates, or else we won't list your product." I also think NewEgg should allow reviewers to Edit and Delete reviews, instead of keeping user reviews up for all time. Guess what? Sometimes a reviewer changes his mind! NewEgg censors negative reviews, and keeps the positive ones up for all time. That is why I no longer review anything on NewEgg. Amazon has a much better review system than NewEgg. |
