help with kids birthday party goodie bags

what is a good place to create goodie bags for a 4 yr old kids b'day party?
is party city a better option or some online site? need to make around 40 bags and want to include sensible / good items while keeping cost low..

Right now Target has a ton of party items on clearance, so that might be a place to look in the near future to get you started. I'm not a fan of Party City in general, I think they're expensive and just sell junky stuff. But that's just me.

When my kids were small and I was doing goodie bags for parties, I would always shop clearance after the holidays (Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter etc) - Target and Walmart always have items that aren't holiday specific that always worked well for me. I still shop the clearance for my little nieces and nephews...right now there is Valentine Clearance (might be over though, just depends on your Target stores) - I got all kinds of things for their Easter Baskets at 90% off.

Personally, I always go to Micheals and get something interesting for the goodie bags. They accept competiters coupons and have good deals in clearance many times.

Other place my friend recently shopped for her sons party is Oriental trading - it has free shipping going on and off these days - and you can shop for party favors according to your theme...They have free shipping till today (02/21/13) ....

I would personally stay away from OTC, although a lot of folks seem to like them...I ordered from them once - never again. They took forever to ship, had horrible customer service and the items I purchased were complete junk. Similar items at Joann or Michaels were much better quality. I did end up getting my money back, but it was a hassle. Also their candy items are barely edible. Blech. Just my experience though!

I am really liking what i see and the prices on OTC, but hesitating as i am tight on time. I chatted with the rep who said that if i place the order today, i would receive it no later than the 6th, which still gives me a couple days before the party. I am able to create a goody bag with lots of nice items for under $2.50 per bag (shipped).

My only concern is receiveing it in time. I will check out the dollar store and target near me this afternoon as well..

thanks all, i checked out target as well as the dollar store near me.. but i thik OTC beat the prices any day. so i wen ahead and took the jump with OTC.. I only hope it arrives in time. Will report on the quality after i receive it..

I made funny bags myself out of brown papar bags and a "Top secret" stamp for my boys for years.

we did party city but it was more expensive. just did not take the time to save some cash. OTC seems great
