That dude sounds like a salesman for the company. Everything they sell is open box? WTH kind of place is that?

why would anyone buy this tv now knowing that mitsubishi is stopping production on them. which means harder to find parts, inflated part prices, etc..

The price on these tvs is going to drop even more then it already has, and in my opinon with the release of oled and 4k tvs this year, regular lcd/led/plasma are going to fall to extremely low price now.

do yourself a favor and wait a few months to buy a tv

It's going to be years before we see significant drops on LCD/LED TVs due to the release of 4K TVs

I'd expect to see the higher end 3D LED 240 hz TVs to slightly drop, but other than that, the ones in the sub $500 range will probably stay right where they are.

My plasma is showing some major burn in, the warranty gave me back my $400 I spent on the TV and let me keep the TV... I just think this TV is too big, wish the 60" one would go on sale

In my experience of putting myself through college in the mid/early 2000's selling TV's, the Mitsubishi DLP's were the absolute BEST in the DLP marketplace. Take in mind except for a short very expensive run of LCD's, all Mitsubishi ever made after their tubes were DLP TV's. Samsung & Sony's DLP or LCD projection TV's were all over the place in quality and performance across each year and year over year. They couldn't decide if they wanted to sell DLP's, LCD Projection, LCD's or Plasmas.

I just got rid of my 2006 era WD52327 Mitsubishi only because I wanted a bigger plasma and HDMI hookups. Other than that it had a nice picture for the lowest model of the 06 series.

As for the parts, they've done nothing but gone down over time. Those "$300" bulbs can be had for $99 bucks as of late. If you're really that worried and watch that much TV you can absolutely buy 2 or 3. That should last you 6 or 7 years at minimum.
