help me find a decent camera for publishing photos

I need a good camera for work that can shoot decent looking photos of people and portrait-like shots indoors. We'll be using photos to print in newsletters or print large scale photos or canvas prints so we're looking for something better than just a point and shoot.

Lighting conditions aren't always ideal so I need a camera that can handle higher ISO and any shakes/vibrations.

The camera will be used on occasion by folks that don't have a lot of camera experience so the camera can't be only designed for those that know how to use manual settings, have tripod, etc.

I see a lot of cameras with APS-C Sensors or similar for around $300. Would it be possible to get a good camera that can get a good depth of field for portrait shots for around $200ish? I'm wondering if a 4 thirds sensor would be sufficient.
