I've been thinking about picking up a drill bit set. I had a few really chip bits that snapped while trying to drill through metal.
Probably a dumb question, but quality drill bits like the $15 100 PC set won't snap if you put them under pressure right? Or does snapping come with the territory?
With a hand drill, its hard to get a perfectly in-line force applied to the drill bit... usually you have a small or large force applied on the handle which puts a moment on the bit causing it to snap. Lower pressure will reduce the chances, as will drilling perfectly straight on the bit, and shorter bits. For metal work like steel, I like to use cheap short bits and resharpen them as opposed to more expensive bits.
I love the 13" tool bag I've got, it came in very handy during a recent trip, it's great for storing misc. electronic items and toiletries for a road trip, I wished I had another one at the time. My local Sears store closed here about a year ago, I'm waiting for Kmart to offer the same deal.
