Samsung Laptop vs Asus Laptop ... To buy or not to buy

I'm looking for some help and direction in finding a laptop or tablet.

And so far am not overly impressed with it as it's as slow as my 10 year old 80g hd, 1g ram desktop. I've already gotten several blue screen alerts/crash errors. I tried researching the error but didn't really find much so I gave up as I'm not sure if I'll keep this. the battery life is impressive. the size of this laptop is very floppy in my lap and also heats up quite a bit

any thoughts on the comparison of the 2 laptops?
I do a lot of web surfing and can well over a dozen windows open in each session. I write a lot of documents, use Dropbox quite a bit to accesss docs from different media, and utilize office a lot, and use an online fax service.

I like this price point, but would like office already installed and not as a starter.

Well installing Office is not a big deal, i have not been impressed with the AMD mobile processors the 2nd link does not work.

So do you plan on returning the Samsung

Regardless it seems you are so in happy with your
first choice I would return it anyhow. Not sure what you paid it
want to spend. It would help to look for one with a sad hard drive
or atleast a hybrid. Could the blue screens be caused by some
software that you installed?

Get the Lenovo from OD for $270.

lenovo has problems my window 8 they told me was a windows 7 they could not get it to connect tothe internet,i had to fix it my self

99% sure that if you reinstall Windows on your present laptop, that will take care of your BSOD problems.
You should have a factory restore partition built into to your machine.
Naturally, you must save all your data before restoring the computer.

I'm looking to spend only to what my needs are and not overspend... with that being said I don't want a cheap piece of crap that will die in 2yrs, nor do I want to spend over $350 for a unit that is portable...

Thanks. Why do you think that is happening? I have installed, Avira, MalawareBytes, Box, Dropbox, and PDF Creator. Is there an issue with one of these programs that could be causing this? I haven't been able to replicate the problem.

Also, for my needs, is the $300 pricepoint about where I can find the best laptop for the best price for my uses? I don't want to needlessly over spend.

My advice is Samsung. I have almost the same lap top at work. Asus has a bunch of issues, plus it's touchpad is not the most comfportable one.

For me the AMD processors tend to run warm and not perform all that well

the lenovo would be a no brainer 3rd gen i3 would be pretty nice

Thanks for the link. I found one in an OD about 45min from here. I called to confirm that they had it in stock. They are holding for me... The rep added, that I could NOT use the Staples coupon and that once I opened the box, the laptop was mine to keep--no returns. What a crappy policy. I was all set to run down and purchase it for $339.99 +tax, but not if I can't return it if this Samsung out performs it for my needs....


I read the BB receipt closer for this laptop and it seems I've got another couple of weeks with this laptop... Battery life is great, and adding Classic Shell has helped... but I still haven't found all of the work arounds with the Win8 and revert back to the decade ol faithful desktop for ease of use and reliability. I have yet to figure out what the bsod was about ... that;s a very confusing issue as only the message came up in the lower right. I was able to continue to work without any interuptions. I ignored it thinking that it's come type of virus. I know, I know.... ignoring a virus is worse, way worse, but I wasn't sure I was keeping this and wanted to see how this handles different issues. I've run malarwarebytes and avira, but nothing was found.
Any other suggestions...
