I suspect so, but there are only the TurboTax deals that have been running forever (McAfee IS 2013 & Quicken 2013 Starter Edition) and I do recall reading some problems with these rebates as well.

MIR, but seems like they are pretty quick to validate based on follow up posts by others. Also don't need to send anything besides the rebate form (no UPC required). Just mailed mine out 2 days ago

You'll get a rebate form printed at the register. No need to activate anything. I believe the rebate you link to that requires activation is for their subscription service. This is also advertised on the box. Just ignore it. Don't recall seeing anyone post that they actually did the activation.
