Model Number STCA4000100.

Was FP in this thread at $162 : http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/89610/newegg-4tb-seagate-backup-plus-usb-3.0-desktop-external-hard-drive-stca4000100

These might be 5900 RPM
There have been reports that the Seagate Backup Plus 4TB series may ship as a DX0001 or a DM0001. - This should be printed on the packaging, and on the enclosure itself.
DX is 7200 RPM and DM is 5900 RPM."
Can someone confirm that this is true? <--This is true. You can see from other threads that some people got the DX (like DarnCrazy) and few others getting the DM.
This drive has been on sale at various sites recently, and the DX model has been confirmed to be the Barracuda XT 7200RPM drive - see thread/pictures here: http://slickdeals.net/f/5861790-Seagate-4TB-USB-3-0-External-Hard-Drive-160?v=1&p=57731698#post57731698

I just bought 3 of these for $160. I'm tempted to get a 5th (I bought one for $190 before) for a zfs set up.

But where does this ebay seller get his supply? How can he undercut Newegg, Staples, B&H, and Costco? I would be cautious, although the ebay seller has excellent ratings. What is the date of manufacture?

He's a Seagate Authorized Reseller according to ebay, so my guess is he gets the drives from Seagate.

Not sure I would trust the warranty being honored if the only receipt is a paypal payment statement from an eBay auction. Staples was selling this earlier this week (now OOS) for $159, which was a cheaper deal when combined with coupons.

But still does not meet my math Smilie

Since I don't need extra drives at this moment, I am putting a "I don't need it but will buy it anyway" price of $99 on a 4TB laugh out loud
