College women told to urinate or vomit to deter a rapist

Just because it's legal to carry, doesn't mean everyone will. There is no reason for a rapist to expect, one way or the other if the victim will be carrying today or at any point in the future, unless you make it illegal to carry.

Considering today that it is rare for a rapist to be armed with women permitted to carry, I don't see how disarming women helps them any.

So, what your saying, is that if a person isn't properly trained to carry, they might make mistakes like going for the gun at a bad time.

I guess proper training, as advocated by most supporters of the 2nd amendment is important.

Yeah, sure. Don't we hear this argument every time the people are restored their rights? That there will be shootouts between the muggers and burglars and newly armed citizens? If the law abiding are allowed to arm themselves for defense, the criminals will too! It is better we all play good little victims, right?

This is why your argument is poor. Women off college campuses already have the option to arm themselves. In many states they do. Now show me the statistic that proves your point, or even a few anecdotal stories. Enough of the female population is armed and carries concealed surely you can find a few stories. Or, alternatively, explain what is so special and magical about a college campus that everyone there is CRAAAAAAAZY

I take grad classes on a local university campus, and the ladies in the classes are plenty grown up and responsible. Nothing whacky happens to them just because the walk or drive onto campus. Shocking, I know. I found it hard to believe at first myself.

No, the reality of the world you live in is that women can carry guns (except in certain locations/restrictions) and that they are overwhelmingly not raped by armed assailants.

Today, most rapes occur by men who are not armed with a gun. Today, women can own guns.
Apparently, men haven't made the transition you insinuated must happen.

People often, if not always, make mistakes under severe stress. Esp those w/o any practice.

If everyone followed the safety practices "advocated by most supporters of the 2nd amendment," guns would not be nearly as available to criminals, and we'd likely not be talking about additional restrictions.
