If anyone is wondering, this keyboard has the left ctrl key in the correct place, not like some of their models where they put the fn key in the corner. Drives me bananas.

Got this pre-BF last year for around $325. Long story short, didn't open the dang this until after Chritmas and after 3 weeks of use, th touchpad went out. I did the update for the Synoptics driver to no avail. I would have been happy if it crapped out a week earlier so I could have returned it to OD, I actually tried but got turned down. My laptop is now in Texas somewhere and I wished I would have know about the touchpad problems so I could have gotten a different one. Isn't Lenovo used to be a good brand before they got bought out by China? For me, it's Lenovo no mo'!!!

The desktop has a quad-core processor while the laptop i5 has a dual core.

Ok let me get this straight for most people as well, near 99%, if not all, current laptop have the LED backlit displays nowadays as well, especially at this performance level. They are pretty standard, even if it just says the HD, it has most likely the LED as well. I mean the old TFT and whatever variants are not used anymore.

Depends on what form-factor you want, they are essentially the same for now aside from 15.6 vs 17.3. Although I would go with this one, possibly a better build quality and all, as this is true Ideapad, while the G780 is still "Essential" branded.

Office depot has it for $479.99. Use Staples $75 off coupon on it? Last day for coupon.

Lenovo has always been a Chinese company. You must be thinking Lenovo's acquisition of IBM's PCs and Thinkpads.

Yeah... they're good... if you buy a thinkpad, and their ideapads are still better than most other budget laptops... you just got a dud.

At least 4-5 hours I would say, they make the new i-cores more and more efficient now. I have a similar spec'd E530 and it gets this, and my 2nd gen i5 V570 gets around 4-5 hours as well.
