Yup, ran a speedtest against both mine and my wife's computers and they all came in about the same. Her's was a bit slower but it was quite a bit older too. We have a pretty fast connection too. Can't remember exactly but it's ~15mbps.

Maybe mine was bad? I dunno.

I was getting 5mbps at work on the Lenovo and 30 on my Dell.

At home, 6mbps on Lenovo and 38 on my Dell.

My issues were really only when I was about 2 rooms away from the router before and it didn't matter what I was doing as I would constantly lose packets and be completely unable to download anything.

I am on a cable line and so all the speed tests run at full speed now 2 floors away now even though in the furthest corners of my house the connection rates are only around 30mbps where as when i'm about 3 to 4 rooms distance away i have closer to 70 and when in the same room i'm around 110mbps. I have absolutely no performance issues at all now. Even before I did not have issues as long as I was closer to the router but it was the only computer in the house that became unusable if I took it off the basement floor before.

Is it possible to upgrade to a higher resolution screen?

Why no 17" anymore? Where did they all go??? Been looking for an affordable one with graphic card for SO long on SD, to no avail. Anyone???

Man, really bummed I missed out on this. I'd really like to get a U410 for my wife. I literally had one in my cart last night but when I added my credit card info, it says it was an invalid item.

Guess I'll keep my eye open on this Outlet site and hope they add more soon.

You just answered your question... for me it IS a minor issue because I don’t use the trackpad, I just plug in a mouse and I'm all set, but hey... if you like to game with a trackpad go right ahead; besides the trackpad problem doesn't render the computer useless I would say it is more of a nuisance. Again, laptop "experts" will ALWAYS find something to bitch about, no matter how stupid or insignificant the issue is, like the idiots that will give a thumbs down to a $400 laptop because it doesn't have a 1080p screen...

Right, but the majority of the users aren't going to be using a mouse. Uneven backlighting is a minor problem - a shitty touchpad is unexcusable - especially if you're spending $700+

Well, if yor really don't like the trackpad I believe Lenovo will send a tech to your house to replace it with the new an improved Elantech trackpad, that's what I've heard. My point is... if you are buying the Y500 more than likely you are not using it just to check Facebook and your email... most users will be hardcore gamers that will be using an external mouse.
