The 14in is "noticably" smaller then your typical 15in screens however but it weights practically nothing and the battery life is quite nice actually (I formatted it and put on linux so I don't know if the battery life will hold with windows but I'm assuming it will). |

I have the U410. Bought it about a month ago, not from Lenovo but from ebay, new. Works great, couldn't be happier. Keyboard and touchpad take some getting used to but are fine once you do. I was worried about the WiFi issue too but found some people saying that if you get one manufactured after June 2012 then you're fine. Others said that wasn't the case but I took a chance and am happy with it.

Just bought a U410 last month with the i5-3337U for 550 and I've been happy with it so far. Beware though, Lenovo has some notorious inconsistency with shipping times. The estimated date can be way off and you can either receive it much later or surprisingly early.
My first U410 I purchased got pushed back bigtime due to a billing error and finally cancelled. Then after my second one's estimated ship date got pushed back, then shipped earlier than expected. And when it did ship from Shanghai, boy did it ship fast. It was like international overnight from China to California. 2 days. The build quality is nice, the touchpad is great for a low end laptop, and no wifi issues for me. The screen could be better and has pretty poor viewing angles and as others have noted, resolution. Feels sturdy, yet light and pretty portable. If you think 4 lbs is too heavy then I don't know what to say... I've been pretty happy with it so far but only time will tell how durable the lenovo is. I've heard of bad experiences with motherboard durability. All in all, a solid purchase for me and is great for a mid range 550-700 dollar laptop. After adding an intel 520 SSD to it, it operates pretty damn fast for boot ups, wake ups, and any usual web apps. Just don't expect this to be a gaming powerhouse. If you want a portable, stylish, productivity apps laptop then this is a pretty good buy. But any more expensive and I'd rather aim for something with higher build quality and beefier specs. Or if you're planning on gaming, you should get something beefier. Any ultrabook isn't really going to cut it for games. It's supposed to be portable and low power, and that's exactly what this U410 is. |

I went on at length about it in the previous thread. Stay away from this machine. Mine had an i5, 32 gig SSD, 750 gig drive. Even though mine was more recent and was not supposed to have wifi issues - it did. Sure, wifi worked, but you would get a download speed that is 1/4-1/6 of another computer sitting right next to your lenovo. Tested this with Speedtest.com. Customer support was a nightmare. They just speak in stock phrases and don't understand what you are trying to say. No one I spoke with had a good handle on English. Also, the charging port was broken. Those w/o wifi issues - I am curious to see if you have ever ran a speedtest with the lenovo and next to another machine? My brother says he doesnt have any issues on his u310 but my u410 sucked. DL speeds were so freaking slow relative to my other laptop. The build quality and form factor was nice, but that was the only positive of my experience. I guess if it is not noticeably slower - it doesn't matter anyway. |
