That's a good price for a decent piece of equipment. Not good enough for a larger living room set up, but great for smaller spaces, kids rooms, office, smaller condo or apartment living rooms. I had it a couple of years ago, bought at Fry's, I believe, 299 was the sticker price, returned after a couple of weeks, just too weak for larger rooms. Sound wise you can't go wrong with Energy at this price point. It is great for watching tv, playing games, not good for music. It's self powered, can be used without a/v receiver, but it has an optical out, so you can use it with one if you choose to do that.

I saw it for $99 at a Sears. Reviews aren't that good so I passed, but it was tempting.

Sorry for the late reply but it was Sears in Valley Stream New York. They were cleaning house of Energy product so they let all of them go along with subs for $39.99 and 5 piece speaker system from for $49.99
