WD just came out with Live Play, which is their new more compact version of WDTV Live that still does every file you throw at it as well as streaming apps. It retails at 69.99. Refurb WDTV Live on WD's site is 49.99 when in stock (rarely). This is pretty decent deal for someone looking to pick up a WDTV immediately, especially if they like Vudu. I have two wdtv live and streams 720p from living room unit to my bedroom unit. Really simple setup especially with a new(er) router (such as linksys e1200 for $25 refurb)

The newer "Play" does not play MPEG2 or DTS. Some reviews also say that it has trouble with some files that the WDTV "Live" plays without problems. I think this is a better deal that the new "Play" model. In for 1 |

Can anyone confirm this model can easily delete files right after viewing? In the older models you have to go into a totally separate file management section. That's a deal breaker for me. Thanks!

I have a Panasonic UT55 HDTV which has Smart TV capabilities; problem is it only plays through DLNA and thats very limited as it is with my 'collection' of movies. Would the benefit in getting a WD TV live factory device such as this be that I can play just about any movie file type wirelessly or wired through my network on my TV? I also have a playstation 3 which I use to play some of my movies, but not even that plays everything; although better than what I get with viera tools dlna movie player on my other tv.
