Best rule of thumb is to NEVER play vball in running shoes. Running shoes are generally higher in the heel and get lower towards front. The high heel makes them unstable for lateral movement and you're asking for twisted ankles/knees. Running shoes are generally good for straight ahead movement/running and are generally designed to cushion heels while also helping you propel forward with higher heels springing you forward. For vb, you want a shoe which has soles generally the same thickness for length of the shoe. Usually shoes like that are cross-trainers, basketball shoes or tennis/vb shoes. Basketball shoes could be pretty good but usually they're way too bulky and heavy so very lightweight basketball shoes can be pretty good if they happen to be good fit for your foot. Another thing I noticed from playing vb a lot, is that all leather shoe is better than a cloth shoe. I found that cloth or cloth/leather shoes don't hold your foot in place as well as leather shoe for lateral movement or stop/go motion. This is another reason not to play in running shoes as generally they're mostly from some sort of mesh/cloth/leather combo. For playing vb, I always liked the Mizuno Tornado vball shoes the best. They tend to fit my feet the best and have more forefoot cushioning/padding then Asics vball, which is another popular vball shoe. I prefer the shoes to have as much forefoot cushioning as possible for landing as well as take-off. I actually wish someone would build a shoe with more cushioning/platform in forefoot than heel since it really feels better for jumping/landing and lateral motion. Anyway, this is from someone who's played a lot of vball and became very scrupulous with shoes after various injuries. Hope this helps. |

Also, badminton shoes can work too cause they are designed for lateral movement but they are expensive and could wear out really fast on cement courts. |

It's back! Discounts not as deep as back in feb, and don't see the Kayano, but other good deals and still free shipping. I missed everything the last time this came up, but I think I'm catching it earlier now. There is still a decent number of sizes left... at least for the shoes I'm interested in.
Just got the New Balance 3090 for 39.97 - seems like a good deal http://www.sportchalet.com/catego...blowout.do |
