The game was hyped up for about 4 years, kept getting pushed back, and when it finally was released was AWFUL. Basically if you aren't 100% sure whether you want the game or not wait until reviews come out. Like I said, never played the beta and am not a big MMO fan so I can't speak on the matter directly, but I think that's what he was alluding to.

If you count only working the multiplayer, yes. Subsequently the only serviceable part of the game was the MP. There are differing reports as to how much work gearbox actually did, but most agree it wasn't much. Enough to put their name on it and that be it
