I'm looking for a good entry-level tool chest set to replace the collection of toolboxes slowly taking over my garage... opinions on this?

Since this is turning into a hodgepodge of Sears/Craftsman discussion.....
How useful is having that prybar? I've actually bent a screwdriver pretty bad once. I used my crowbar and chisel last week. Looks like the set that's on sale for $19.99 is pretty good quality, but I dunno when I'll use it again. Necessary tool to have in your box? Right now I'm planning on dropping by and picking up the bag and the drill bit set. Last edited by aznnp77; 02-22-2013 at 11:35 AM.. |

I personally don't like the socket organizer. I just cut one of my portable socked set cases in half (removed wrench holder part) and stuck that in the drawer. Fits nice and takes up way less room ! It never held the sockets tightly when carried anyway...

Slightly irritated that I just spent $40 a gearwrench ratcheting wrench set and the Pittsburgh Professional set is on sale AC for only $18 now! I can think of 3 situations in the past where I coulda used a prybar, but improvised, usually with a scewdriver. Thanks for the response. |

Really want to pull the trigger on this deal in a bad way but I've run into an experience where I had to use a 20" extender before on a spark plug because I needed the breaker bar (a lacrosse pole), to be out of the engine bay and literally use all my strength to walk and turn the damn thing. Luckily I was able to totally abuse my dad's Snap-On set for the ordeal. Would these little guys take that sort of punishment or is it best to step up to a higher grade, (ie Craftsman Professional), before tackling another scenario like this?

you're better off spending an extra $100 to get the heavy duty ball bearing one that's on sale now for $320. it's the 3 piece red combo one in the newspaper insert. i attached it to this post. i bought that same 3 piece black one for $219...returned it the following weekend due the above reasons. i'm glad this red one came up for sale so quickly - i'm actually going to the store tonight to buy it. i played around with it a bit a few weeks ago and it's built WAY better, metal sheeting is thicker, and the warranty is 3yrs. |

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-13...ockType=G3 I was also looking at their flat black 2-piece combo for $350 (like the looks and the variety in drawer sizes): http://www.sears.com/10-drawer-2-...ockType=G5 And HD reviewers say this is superior to the basic Craftsman set too (50lbs/drawer): http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5...SfkBKWkpA1 Too many choices... |
