Isn't that what I said? The only difference between the Google Play taxes and T-Mobile taxes would be the $200 difference in price. You would pay taxes for an additional $200 at T-Mobile. Also, Google Play charges for shipping as well whereas T-Mobile is offering free shipping.

You know T-Mobile has online bill paying. Just make your friends and family pay their portion online each month. That's what I do. One of my family plan members doesn't have a checking account, so he just goes in to the T-Mobile store to pay his portion. There's no reason you need to collect all their money.

Also, the maximum fee for a late payment is $5.00/mo, so a little bit of lateness is no problem. I think at two months late they do cut you off and charge you a reconnection fee on each line, but that can almost never happen since one member's on-time payment for the current month will clear the late member's payment from the previous month.

Sounds like you're happy with what you have now, but I personally don't find managing the family plan is that much work.

My guess is the plans that are offered. Contract vs. no contract and the long term savings involved. You'll see the responses soon enough. I didn't give it a thumbs up or down. It will surely fit some people's needs. Just not mine.

I doubt it. It is more likely the "contracts are evil" zealots. They seem to do that in every such thread (unless it is Samsung or AT&T where they get crowded out). Sort of like the anti-gun folks who TD every gun deal.

No, but note that there is a couple of weeks in the beginning where canceling the contract requires you to return the phone or pay full retail. This varies from 14 days to 30 days depending on the state I believe. You will need at least that much time for the rebate anyway. But after that period, you can just pay the $200 and walk out or convert to another plan with them that does not subsidize like value plan. If you do this too many times, a cople of times in the same year, they may block you from future purchases.

you can cancel your contract after receiving $50 Rebate that I assume the rebate would be received within 2-3 months after submission (as I remember when dealing t-mobile rebate years back).

assuming you just need to get the phone only:
- mostly tmobile calculate phone tax from the full price that would be based on $550.
- stay for 2-3 months to get $50 rebate , pick the lowest classic plan: $40(500min)+$10(200Mb)+ taxes.

for me,buy from google directly without playing the game with tmobile.
or
pick AR deal by assuming will stay with 2 years contract.


I am still in contract with tmobile, that will due on incoming 2 months.
planning to get value plan or prepaid..
