What's the best savings account with the best interest rates?

Can anyone recommend me a good savings account that I can open? Up until now, I've only had a checking account. I want to get in the habit of putting my paycheck away before I spend it. Besides opening a savings account, what are my other options?

the best one is one at a far away credit union that's difficult to access. don't get the ATM card, no checks, etc.

there won't be much in the way of interest, wouldn't bother worrying about that

Rates these days are so low, you might be better off stuffing your money under the mattress. I'm not sure 1% is worth the hassle of having to report the interest income on your taxes.

You could do high yield checking account too, a bit safer (psychically ) than under the mattress

My bank gives me 2.25% on my checking. There is not a lot of them around, only located in Indiana and Kentucky.

First Security Bank

Their website has all the details. It is called extreme checking.

They also have a 2% rate for a kids saving account.
