That people even bring up the the thickness of the TV. or refer to CCFL as being old (meaning inferior to them) is a sign of just how priorities when purchasing televisions (and monitors) are so screwed up on a consumer level.

That's also how manufacturers get away with marketing LED as a super technology benefit... same with the 120/240 and 3D stuff, but that is a bit off topic.

If you prefer a super thin TV, and don't actually care about picture quality, the Westinghouse may be perfect for you. It baffles me why anyone even cares about how thick their TV is (unless it's an older CRT that weighs several hundred pounds). It's not like most people need a super thin TV because they are constantly moving it room to room.

Anyway, this is a great deal. I don't even need a TV and am tempted to get it anyway.

Can anyone comment on this 46" Sony vs this 46" Sharp for $400 [bestbuy.com]? The bedroom TV just died on me and am looking for a replacement. TIA.

I got last Dec from Dell.com for $560 after tax. And fry's has it for $550 everyday price.

Costco.com has 3yr extended warranty for TV's under $500 for only $30.

TV does NOT have to be purchased from costco.

Warranty provider is squaretrade.

Seems like a good deal for extra protection.

I see people always asking if its a LED TV. Samsung really marketed the crap out of this and I want to tell all consumers its not a LED TV, that doesnt exist yet, at least in the commercial channel. All these TVs are LED BACK-LIT....but after years and years, Ive just given up hope. People are stupid. Period. Plus unless its an OLED TV, CCFL is the preferred backlight...
