Oh, Walter. I'm sorry in advance.
Fiat/Dodge has horribly initial quality and reliability ratings, and Fiat is considered a joke all over the world due to it's horrible quality. They are worse than the K-cars of the '80s we had here, and we all know how bad those cars were. I sincerely hope you were able to purchase a factory (not aftermarket) extended bumper-to-bumper warranty. I'd hate to see a bunch of posts from you in the near future documenting car troubles. We might just chronicle it all in this thread. ![]() I really really hope I'm wrong on this, for your sake. On the plus side, it is a very sharp looking car and the six speed manual is a plus. With the Dart, I believe you are wrong. Chrysler/Fiat appears to really want the Dart to be a success. From what I've read, they are working hard to quickly fix issues as they arrive. Of course they may not try as hard a few years down the road. Since I plan on keeping SlartiDartfast for a long time and this is the first production year, a factory extended warranty is also in my plans. |

I'm on iPhone bare with me, I have a 13 scion tc. States regulate prices of extended warranties in some areas, Alaska mandates my dealer to sale it for a certain price (genuine Toyota care) alaska wanted 2800 for 100k / 7 year 0 deductible. After researching I found a place online in another state, purchase it for 1k and one week later it showed up on my dealership in Alaska as full genuine 100k 7 year etc. so shop around, you have time to do it. I plan on having my car a long time like you so I chose to get it. I wish I had better mpg, I see u get like 40mpgi get 33hw 23 city 26-28 combined which I'm content with. Insurance cost a lot on my car model though I wonder how much less yours would be than mine. |

Check Edmunds for local Limted edition Darts. You should see a link to look at the possible incentives that are available. By the way, the build a car feature that Dodge has on its website isn't very accurate. I build the exact car I bought and it only said it was a high match, not an exact match. Plus it doesn't have the new bundle pricing I mentioned above. Other than not having the LED racetrack tail lamps and occasionally hitting a trim piece with my left foot when releasing the clutch, I'm happy with SlartiDartfast. Not to mention a few dealerships list the auto-shift DDCT as a manual transmission vehicle. The auto is an extra $1,000. You have to look at the sticker on those sites.

I like the dart because it looks nice/turbo/4 door lol and he got it at the right price Fortunately we don't pay sales tax in Alaska so saved a lot on that too. |

Warning, long rant below.
I went to title and register the Dart today. Before I bought it, I checked how much it would cost using the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) website. I knew I'd have to pay for two years because they won't issue a plate that expires in 2013. I also knew I would have to pay an extra 1% sales tax because Michigan's tax is 6% and Indiana is 7%. I expected to pay abut $750. Turned out it was just under $1,000. Getting the Dart tinted may have to wait a while. ![]() I asked why it was so much. Two issues. First, the online quote system isn't tied to the official BMV system. Online they listed the Dart I have. Even though it has been available since last July, the Dart isn't in the BMV database. Since it isn't listed, they "had to use the MSRP". Secondly, on the bill of sale the dealer listed the MSRP at the top (possibly required by the state of Michigan). The dealer listed the sale price underneath but didn't explicitly state the amount of the negotiated discount. The BMV made me pay sales tax on the MSRP rather than what I paid. So I had to pay the 1% difference in the sales taxes plus 7% tax on the discount. ![]() tl:dr Bureaucracy of the license branch cost me an extra $250 to register and title my new car. Tinting is going to have to wait.

Commercials and photos make it look better than in person, IMO. Not at all trying to knock your decision, OP. If you like it, enjoy. Plus you made a good engine choice, and the best transmission choice. Last edited by Landers; 03-07-2013 at 07:11 PM.. Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On.
