JC Penney Gift Cards 27% off - Cardpool.com

Yeah I use Cardpool a lot for JCP cards. They usually range from 25% their lowest discount to 30% their highest discount. Even though it is not 30%, they have some low value e-cards available so they is nice since the lower value ones usually don't stay around long.

These cards have strange uneven face values. I am thinking they bought from people and are reselling to us. The problem is some of these gift cards might come from criminals who obtained the cards illegally. For example, a lot of shoplifters steal and return without receipt.

Anyone got into trouble before for using these gift cards?

I don't see how you'd get in trouble as JCP issued the cards in the first place, but I have the cardpool.com receipt if anything ever did come of it.

If they sell for 27% discount, they must have bought from people for at least 35% off. Who would sell them at 35% off? I know I wouldn't. I would put on Craigslist or eBay. So I m thinking most of these cards come from shoplifters who steal and return to jcp without receipt

These are always available at this price. Wake me up when they hit 33% again.

Although shoplifting could be one of the reasons - it can not be singled out as the ONLY reason.

People sell things for cheap for various reasons, depends on how bad you want to sell it. If Someone has $100 JCP Giftcard but cares about $70 in CASH, he will sell that to you for $70 regardless of how the card was originally obtained (gift from someone, had to genuinely return something but did not have receipt, etc.).

We are not supposed to assume and judge.

i have bought cards from jcp employees at close to 50% some times when people need money they sell at any cost i doubt its shop lifters only

It depends on the person and the gift card. Some of the gift cards on Cardpool are stolen, there are dozens of reports of that which turn up in a Google search. Every once in awhile you get scammed, but you can get scammed on E-bay and Craigslist also. As for who would sell a gift card for 35% off, it's not always that much off. Take for instance a gift card I got for Christmas for Regal Entertainment Group, the stand at the mall offered me $15 for a $35 gift card. Cardpool offered me $31.95 if I took an Amazon gift card. $31.95 to Amazon is worth more to me than $35 to a movie theater when I don't go to the theater and none of my friends do either. I have never purchased a gift card from Cardpool, because I don't trust it not to be a scam or stolen card, but I would sell to them again in a heartbeat.

I had assumed the cards are selling at such a discount because JC Penney is on such shaky financial ground. Figured that is pretty common knowledge and people want to unload cards given to them by Aunts, Grandmas, etc. before the store goes belly-up.

I've bought around $1000 worth of JCP gift cards from Cardpool. I really hope they don't go belly up, their Stafford dress shirts are the only dress shirt I like and getting an extra 25-30% through Cardpool is a steal.

But I agree, it seems like since the big changes that happened last year there are no shoppers.
