After reading all the success stories on this thread, I went to my local staples and got the sales person to drop the price down to 99. I then took out the coupon and then the sales person took and and mumbled "I'm not sure if I...." The manager came over and said that the 50 off was already applied when they price matched. Pissed off, I said thank you and left without purchasing.
I went to the next staples. The fat saleslady first told me that the 50 off pricematch was a mail in rebate? Wtf? I explained that the 50 off was instant savings. She called the manager over and the manager took the 50 off. He stayed next to her though, it was almost as if he was waiting for me to pull out the coupon. It was very uncomfortable I might add. I then said that I had the coupon and I got it online in an email. The obese saleslady kept looking at me, and then asked the manager if it was ok. He said no without even checking. He then punched in the numbers anyway, and didn't tell me whether it went through or not. He then said that some guy tried to get him to get a a ten pack hammermill for 3.99 by getting the online price of 28.99 and then applying the 25 off coupon. I pretended like I had no idea about that deal. Of course, I had the $25 hammermill coupon in my pocket. He said "so this is similar, just not as extreme". I said, "well when this item goes on sale it sells for $60". He replied "yea..maybe $79". "You can get it for $60" I immediately answered. "Oh ok" he said, with feigned interest. I left pissed off, obviously. I live in a suburb outside of NYC. Maybe the managers here are smarter/suspicious than usual. Learned my lesson though. I'm never trying to pull that move in these Staples again. |

I meant to say the cashier told me they included only a limited amount of ink in the printer (rather than the standard size) but that it doesn't matter since other posters say you can get non-OEM ink extremely cheap. lol |

This printer make it's own ink or something?

I scored one my local store in MD. I went in at 8:15am so store was empty. Cashier PM online price, then i went along with protection plan talk until manager walked away then declined it and said i had a coupon on my phone. She grab my phone entered the code and i was out the door. Total price $52.99
This deal was very timely i brought a MX712 from BJ's for 129.99 a week ago then returned it when Amazon had the MX892 for 122.00 (delivered monday) now i'm returning that MX892 back to amazon (already printed label) since i scored at staples today. The wife is looking at me a bit crazy as we have a perfectly working MX870 and i brought 3 printers in a week but i justified it all by saying I'm an I.T person i have to have airprint and google cloud print

While the manager was near by... from what I heard from the cashier/csr I worked with, he and the manager both frequent slickdeals... that same manager had apparently scored the super cheap 23" Acer's here a while back... (I was upfront on what I'd wanted and had zero problem... guess I was lucky... I'd bought the printer I had so many problems from the manager who had been standing there anyway...)
