Ya that can be an issue. But since these printers are already out front (and not in the back storage like cameras, hard drives, computers, etc.) and they may just put them upfront instead of taking it to the back again. So in that case a cashier might just ring you up. I haven't reserved a printer yet so I'm just talking in theory here.

Another thing that might work to avoid the manager ringing you up is if indeed he is the one that brings from the back...try to pretend like you will be buying other things and to have him hold it upfront so that a cashier will ring it up and he does not.

From my few reserves I've had both managers ring me up as well as managers just bringing the merchandise upfront to cashier and walking away. So it's 50/50 on who rings you up.
Good Call! I agree, this will work. Just have him bring it up front and tell him you have more stuff to buy. When he disappears, check out with one of the cashiers. Works every time. Well at least the one time that I did it, it worked.

I was lucky - it worked in store for me. The printer price was $199 in the store, but it rang up at $149. I told the clerk that it was $99 online. He looked it up and called the manager over for a price match. Then the clerk rang up the $50 off coupon to bring it down to $49.99 (receipt attached).

Thanks OP!

Hopefully this will help other people get this in store!

(Note: I printed the coupon off of the website so that I had more than just the code: http://www.staples.com/sbd/cre/co...N:20120909)

Thanks. Got it for $50. Did a kiosk order for $100. And then the manager did a price guarantee at the register to deduct the additional $50.

So coupon did not scan with kiosk order? He had to do manual override?

A good way to point out that the $50 coupon is NOT the same as the IS online is check the SKU's listed on the coupon. This printer is the only one reduced with $50 IS.
If it was the coupon savings, all of the SKU's listed on the coupon would have the same $50 savings online.

BTW I scored one instore. Easy PM. Coupon scanned no problem.
Thanks.

I'm wondering then why the other person that did kiosk order why the coupon did not scan?

Scored one! Thanks OP.

Rang up at $149.99. I had printed out the Staples web page that showed the $50 instant rebate and a final price of $99.99. Showed that to the manager and he gave me $50 off. Then gave the cashier the coupon for an additional $50 off. Out the door for $53.24.

problem with these printers is all 4 ink tanks must be filled even if you only want to print black and white.4-pack of ink will cost $50'ish unless you go generic and run risk of messing up printer head.
I've been using the generic *very* cheap cartridges in the mx700 and 800 series printers for years with no problems. In fact, they are the only printers I buy because they work so well, and the ink is so cheap. I would expect no different from this one.

If you have a smartphone, you can pull it up and they can scan it. Or just pull it up on your laptop screen (if you have laptop) and bring it in to get scanned.
