Quote from HardOCP : The MDX controllers do suffer some read speed degradation in steady state, but for the 120GB 840 this amount of degradation is terrible. This equates to the one strength of the 120GB 840, its read speed, being null and void after regular use.

Glad this is back -- now I'm just a trip away from MC to finish my build.
![]() edit: how do I report the price to Amazon? All that link brings me to is the product page. Also what are the chances Amazon price matches? I have some GC leftover from the $50 off $100 BB deal that I would love to use! Last edited by mantis3; 02-24-2013 at 08:14 AM.. There are no men like me. There is only me.

i have a bunch of steam games which are large in storage, do you all just use this drive for like your main apps and boot drive?
will the computer still be fast if i boot up the games from storage device instead of directly from this SSD like the steam client installed on C: but game data on D: or do i just get the larger ssd drive like 500gb |

How much faster can one expect the speedier (and more expensive at around $230) Pro version of this drive to make one's system in real-world situations, if one puts one's OS, apps and one's most frequently accessed data on the SSD?
I realize that this depends a lot on what one uses one's system for, so let's say that one doesn't do much if any gaming, or any specialized data crunching such as video or photo processing, but mainly uses it for Office apps, browsing, HTPC, light programming and db development, etc? Is the extra $80 or so to get the Pro version mostly wasted? |

In my case, I can fit my OS, apps and frequently-accessed data on a 250GB SSD, with plenty of spare room left over for growth and redundancy, with the rest of my multi-TB data (almost entirely video) neither needing the speed of an SSD, nor being able to fit on one. |
