Had a missed call from an 800 number 10 minutes before I went on my lunch break this evening, called it back since I had a feeling it was Sears. Automated answer said "it looks like you have a scheduled delivery tomorrow. We were calling to confirm the date and time, between 4:30 and 6:30pm February 26th"

Here is the response I got from amazon after chatting for the price match. If you place your order within the next 24 hours, you will qualify for a price match refund. The current price for the Panasonic 50'' Smart Viera 3D Plasma HDTV TC-P50ST50 on Amazon.com is $1099.00. But for the sake of discussion, let's say they are. Now take the television and the mount and add those depths together. If there's a difference of two inches in the depth of the TV, then the TV could be sticking a fairly noticeable distance into the room... especially if the TV is mounted higher and is therefore tilted down towards the viewing area. None of that may seem particularly significant when you are sitting directly in front of the TV. However, not every TV installation is the same and in many setups the giant black thing on the wall is visible from the SIDE (and this of course can apply to sets that are on stands, too). You can argue, and not without merit, that a 2-inch difference is not a big deal, but a thicker TV is definitely more obtrusive visually... Ideally, the TV, when not in use, should retreat into the background. WE ARE THE 89%!!
(that is, the 89% that don't care if "CA tax kills the deal") |

(Side note: The box truck was an independent mover's, but the guy identified them as "Sears." Kinda like FedEx using Ryder trucks sometimes.)They offloaded it, carried it inside, set it in the room I'm going to use it in, then cautioned me not to turn it on right away. Then I signed for it, since the box was in great shape. Unboxed it after they left, no cracks on the screen, thank goodness I can't believe Sears wouldn't take it back if there was a problem after powering it on, especially when the delivery drivers know to transport plasmas upright, and tell the customer not to turn it on right away.Hope that helps! |
