Head over to the AVS forums, lots of people say that they are basically the same. The ST50 has a filter to help with light, but if you can control it (ambient light) there is no issue. Saying that the ST50 is 'much better' is pretty disingenuous.

In for 1, thank you! Was shopping for a 55" and was just about to pull the trigger on one for about $400 more than this. This is a steal for one of the best-rated TVs of 2012 though, and it frees up my budget for other home theater goodies. Big thanks all around.

I just purchased this at $795.88 so Sears took $4 off

Scheduled delivery for Tuesday, my next day off...what timing! I was considering just going ahead with the $999 price from Amazon since the ST never goes on sale (excepting the rare EPP deal at $899). My local Sears had the ST and UT side-by-side on the same shelf, and the ST was much more resistant to glare. I despise glossy panels.

Rep for the OP because I never thought I would get this set for under a grand

1) any 3d glasses with this? If not, how much do they cost?

2) is there a "game mode"?

3) I know it has built in wifi, but is there also Ethernet port for faster connectivity?

You bought an UT huh?

You should be able to price match this to Amazon.com for those who can save on tax. I did this last year on a similar deal and saved about $55 in tax. The way I did it was I called Amazon customer service and told them about the better price. They said to order it online and they would refund the difference to my credit card after the purchase, which is exactly what they did with no problem.
