Newegg on the decline??

not really.. I have only used their CS once recently for a price adjustment - I bought a PSU in January, and then a week later they dropped the price - I asked them if they could do a price adjustment, they agreed, and a couple days later, the credit shows up - their system is still quite a bit better than others who don't even offer to e-mail you the chat transcript and ask that you copy+paste the conversation so that you have no official way of holding them to what they say (*cough walmart *cough)

i don't know i had something similar and they refused to adjust the price.
they sent my client a pc case instead of the 500 bucks printer he ordered, took 3 weeks to straight out.

what they finally did to me was i ordered 16gb of server memory and while on the website, it states new and pics in packaging, when i got it i got 2 sticks of ram in 2 zip lock bags. when i called them they don't know if it's suppose to come that way or just a mistake. they asked me to try to see if it works and i told them i will only do it if they will take responsible if any subsequent damage occurs. and they are not willing to do that. i am not risking $1500 in equipments just to figure out if newegg's crap works or not.

am i not being reasonable ?

sounds like 2 separate issues, and I have never heard of receiving RAM in ziplock bags..

did you buy from newegg or newegg marketplace? also was that an openbox item?

i don't understand why you are having problems.

Newegg is good for rock bottom pricing, not great customer service. If you want great customer service, shop at CDW or Crucial. They're not as cheap, but they'll bend over backwards for you if you need them to.

the site clearly displays new and packing sealed from manufactuer. the fact i got 2 stick of ram in two ziplock bags is unacceptable, since i did not pay for a used or bulk product. i feel it is a bait and switch.
and newegg responded saying that i should go ahead and test to see if the memory works or not, but they will not be responsible if the ram is defective and shorts out my motherboard or cpu. and i sure as hell not going to risk $1500 of my own $ just to test newegg's screw ups, again, i did not purchase something that is used or bulk, or unknown condition.

Quality at NewEgg is not always there...my friend bought a new laptop, a Toshiba, and it arrived DOA. One would think they would at least turn it on and see that it boots up, but apparently there is no QA. He had to ship the laptop back. When he received the replacement, it was slow and full of bloatware, and he didn't like it anyway, so he returned it, paying 15% restocking fee.

It's not on the decline, but sounds like your customer service experience(s) have been but on the whole I don't think that means Newegg itself is on the decline.

People have been complaing about new egg for the past few years.

Its been awhile since i purchased anything from newegg. Back in the day when i was building pc.. It was the only place i shopped. I would hate to see them go down hill

Newegg mixes their site with the marketplace ads and doesn't make it readily apparent. Both Amazon and Newegg started doing this virtual storefront crap. They still get a slice of the pie and no responsibility.

They need their slice of the fleabay pie.
