Fast Tablet with large display
I'm trying to find a deal on a tablet.requirements screen 11" or bigger 60gb storage or more windows based software 3gb of memory or more wifi I browse a lot, use email a lot. not much into watching movies etc. I love the Acer W700-6607 but hate the wide screen display, no wide screens. I'm trying to keep cost under $1000 Mary [I]A deal ain't a deal unless it's a steal!!/I]

A 7" tablet is only about half the screen real estate of a 10", for example. I do agree with you, however, that avoiding widescreen is impossible. |

Yup, you won't find any tablets that are NOT widescreen anymore. iPad might be the closest to non-widescreen since they haven't changed their aspect ratio since they launched, but any Windows based tablet will be widescreen.
I'd recommend the Microsoft Surface - go for the Pro if you can squeeze it into your budget as it meets all of your specs, but don't discount the RT if you want to save some $$. You can get the RT with a nice keyboard, case & memory card for under $1k & have some $$ left over for apps. |
|
If I were buying a Surface right now, it would definitely be the RT over the Pro. If I did decide that I needed to install something like Lightroom on, then I'd rather get a convertible touchscreen Ultrabook which pretty impressively outspecs the Surface Pro for the price. |

thanks for all the info guys, yes i ruled out the surface because of the screen size and the fact that it's a newer ms product i'd rather wait for there next attempt. I also loathe Apple and refuse to be in there jail.
I guess what i'm really looking for is maybe a discount on the Acer W700-6607, where i'd get the best savings. I'm so happy you all let me in on the widecreen info I had no idea that its become the norm. Do you all know anything about heating with acers, i'm concerned if whether a tablet gets as hot as a laptop. I currently have a toshiba satellite and it's hard working with this thing not on a desk and i'm online so much it's getting to be a problem for me. |

Like others have mentioned, $1000 is alot to spend on simply web surfing and email. Here are some nice deals for web apps Tablet Deals $350 Vivo Tab RT(w Key Dock) $450 VivoBook Ultrabook (Win 8) << Your SD Reps/Feedback Improves Post =

I ended up buying a Lenovo Twist and after 10 days I started getting fan error while booting. I returned it and now i'm looking once again. What I learned...I hate Windows 8, more $ doesnt mean more reliable. I no longer want a tablet, more interested in a laptop now.
--------------- My Toshiba Sat. L555D-S7930 2.2 GHz ( Dual-Core ) - Memory: 3.0 GB died on me after 2yrs and I need a new laptop. I am a heavy internet user over 15hrs daily, no games but a facebook game every now and then. I need a cd/dvd drive to make music data disc for my car. I kept my tosh. hooked to a monitor 90% of the time but I don't want a desktop because I travel and I want to bring my laptop with me. I want something fast for browsing or at least as fast as the old tosh. I was looking at a sony vaio but don't know much about them reliability wise. I don't want lenovo, it must have Windows 7, and a hd bigger than 500gb also 1yr or more warrenty and be under $500 i'm open to any size laptop as long as i can connect a monitor hdmi or pin. Its my fault the tosh. died i'd leave it on 24/7 and I think something inside fried. : ( Last edited by MARY9133; 05-08-2013 at 07:53 PM.. Reason: add more info |
