Ugh, had to deal with the local staples manager who I've had problems with in the past. first he tried telling me the 30% OD coupon was a reproduction, even after I showed him that the link is directly from OD.
Then I had two $5 off coupons, one certificate coupon and one $5 off $25, he scans the certificate one and then tells me he can't use the 5off25 because "you cant use coupons with price match", referring to the 30% off coupon. Anyway, I had a $15 gift card from a return when I used an office depot coupon (no idea why they refunded that back as credit, but i'm not complaining), so I ended up paying $47 for this. thanks OP |

btw; thanks again for that OD 30% off idea. I credited you for it in the wiki, and I repped you. That kind of help is why I love SD. While the 30% coupon is certainly debatable, I would not accept their rejection of their own 20% off coupon and would definitely be calling the executive office to complain. I am sure they would work something out for you (maybe even a phone purchase with shipping). And yes, I would feel this price is worth the effort of a 20 minute phone call.

Wow, i've been waiting for an SSD deal for along time. While I agree the price for the ssd itself isn't slickdeals worthy, I have to give much thanks to the OP for pointing that I could use the 20% coupon with the SSD. I really was not aware of the coupon because I don't shop at Staples often, so I would just skip over any deals related to this store. However, I was really in the need for a speed improvement for my PC and the OP came to the rescue.
I just finished installing Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 (gotta love student discounts). So far I've noticed SOME improvements in bootup time, noticeable reduced installation time, and a SIGNIFICANT speed boost in opening Office/programs; I swear Word opened in at most 1 second. So the SSD was/is definitely worth it. I can't believe SSDs have finally achieved reasonable prices (albeit with coupon). About time! EDIT: one thing to note: the 3.5 adapter bracket didn't really work for me as it was not wide enough to reach the edge of the HDD bay to screw in. Instead I mounted the SSD (with bracket) with heavy duty poster tape. I compared the width to my other 2 HDDs and both HDD are wider...Did HDD thinned out because I was not aware of this change in HDD size. The 3.5in brackets were not standard for my case unless I installed the brackets wrong. Last edited by dale_nx26; 02-25-2013 at 04:00 PM.. |

Up to 100 MB/s max write / Up to 260 MB/s max read Whereas the one from OP is: Up to 450 MB/s max write / Up to 450 MB/s max read I wouldn't save that $10 bucks for such a sacrifice... |

3.5" HDD are standard and the bays should be as well. The bracket worked fine for me mounting into a 3.5" bay, it took a bit of flipping of the side pieces to get them right...but it fit fine width wise. |
