Be careful. I've ordered from some non amazon fulfilled seller for this item and the tube wasn't exactly full. Not sure if the factory made it that way or if some of it was siphoned off.

I've used it a bunch of times. It works very, very well on flat scars (even old ones). It doesn't work at all on the puffy, raised kind (I think they're called keloid and hypertrophic scars). It can really work wonders on normal scars. My mom cut her finger badly, and the stitches left a ragged, red scar. Now you can barely see it.

bought previously from a seller on amazon, not sure who, at a higher price. had no problem w/product looking like it was tampered with.

Wow I really got a great deal nearly 2 years ago! I bought several of the cream with SPF30 at 99 Cents Only. The expiration is 8/2012 but they seems great even to this day. I'm now kicking myself for not thinking of buying even more and try selling some on Amazon.

You probably just got the product with the gel settled away from the squeeze hole.

I don't know if it's the same for all retailers but the product I got was in the display box sealed in blister packaging. Even if without the blister packaging, I don't see why any seller would cheat a buy of some of this product. I mean it's not like they'd have the printed tubes to inject to sell. Keeping for their personal use would be absurd. Remember, weighted label products are sold by their weight not volume.

Anyone remember when Target had these on clearance a few years ago? Kind of the same situation as the Oral-B brushheads at Target earlier this year.

I've read it's the frequent mechanical rubbing of the scar that does the work, and that the active ingredient in Mederma hasn't been proven to reduce scars. The instructions with Mederma tell you to apply and rub it in much more frequently than most people would care to do. But buying an expensive tube of scar gel may be the motivation needed to follow through.

That's what ive heard too. The gel probably keeps it moisturized but you could just as easily use a thin layer of vaseline or lotion.

how big is this tube? seems small

Very good price. More than double the cost at any B&M stores. My only concern is if it is real or counterfeit.

I got a gash on my forehead a few years ago and when I researched it seemed to agree with the people who said this doesnt work much better than rubbing Vaseline. From what I recall silicon gel pads were supposed to give significant results and were used by doctors. Something like these (No idea about what is a good deal right now)

This stuff is snake oil - it does not work. The only way to improve the appearance of scars is plastic surgery or massage if the scar is fairly recent. Rubbing this ointment into the scar massages it, which is why it appears to work. Save your money.

I had mohs surgery 2 years ago. Nasty scar. I used Aquaphor. Aquaphor is vasoline with some mineral oil. when I was looking into mederma I could not find any literature out there that had any evidence based medical reasonwhy it would work any better than vasoline or Aquaphore. The idea is to keep the wound/scar moist, Then time takes care of the rest.
The aquaphor, vaseline also hides the scar as I,m sure the mederma will. Anyway when you reach a certain age dermatologist exams become important and Ive yet to meet one that would recommend mederma. A month after surgery I looked like leatherface. A year later I would have to show you were they cut me.. Good luck.
