I've done a lot of tool research over the past couple of weeks. However, I guess I haven't done enough.
Can anyone tell me what's so special about this set? I mean a 1/4 drive ratchet set for $50? My 150 piece set (made in the USA) has everything the 1/4 set has except a couple of deep sockets, the thin ratchet, and the 6 inch extension.

well the one thing i can tell you is you can tell a difference in look of the craftsman stamped made in usa tools and the newest ones with no origin stamped made in china. these are defiantly "new old stock" 2000s quality sockets. They might not be 100% made in the USA like you said but do you have proof at all?

oh and since I'm so ignorant can you find me a 1/2 set with 16 deep 24 standard both sae and metric, 2 extensions and ratchet for 85 shipped? (i also got -5 and 20 dollars in points off my next sears purchase bringing it to a realistic 60 shipped)

There was one lower price last year, but only by $5.

Funny, Ford still evades the Chicken Tax tariffs by importing vehicles with seatbelts, then removing and trashing the belt once they're here in the states. How times have changed.

For a product to be labeled "made in USA" it had to be "all or virtually all" made here. Given that each piece in these sets are stamped USA, I'd say it's a fair bet you conspiracy theorists are wrong.

Previous thread plus pics from last year compared the the US-Craftsman thin-profile ratchets versus imported versions showed similar performance but difference in overall shape and finish. Grab the US versions while they last no matter the truth.

I got the 3/8" Thin-Profile set a while back and love it. Nice hefty ratchet. I just took the plunge on the Professional Use set for the 1/4" and 1/2" set. I do like the thin-profile ratchets though. Darn Sears for these sales.

wsm.....if u picked up in store, maybe its a really old version of this set, but if u ordered and having them shipped, your going to b disappointed to find they r from China.
