I payed way more than this when I bought the TV back in November 2012.

It's a fantastic TV once you take the time to dial in the settings properly. Clouding may be apparent at first, but some gentle massaging can usually eliminate it. Check out the AVS forum owner's thread for specific details.

This is going to be a novice question, but for 3D TV's, can you opt out of the 3D setting and just use it in 2D? 3D TV prices are dropping significantly now and I know this is a great TV but have no interest in the 3D technology. It seems like I could just pull the trigger on a cheaper 3D TV but never use the 3D...?

You can use the TV in 2D mode only, if you want. The only content that really requires 3D is... 3D content (i.e 3D Blu-Ray Discs).

This is a great TV.

I have C8000 already (from few years back) and it is still going strong.

I got this one during the Black Friday sale. Today I regret that I didn't spent $200 more then and got the ES8000. Not that this is a bad TV, it is awesome but the other one has built-in Skype camera (I use Skype daily) and motion control. And also the specs are way better. So if you guys see the ES8000 at an affordable price I would recommend it otherwise this TV is really great.
