Fair Warning: be ready to shell out more $$$ if your kids to it! I got the Giants Starter kit for a "cheap" $39.99 at Christmas time not knowing a thing about Skylanders...only to shell out hundreds on collecting the many figures over BOTH Skylander games. What can I say, I'm every bit as hooked as them! Plus a 3rd game is scheduled for Fall with even MORE figures! Yikes!

Was watching friends' kids playing this. When your characters die in the game, you must "rest" them and use different characters to continue further. In harder levels, with multi players, you can go through dozens of characters easily, else upset your kids for cutting the game short. That's $$$$$. Great business idea from the game maker. The DS versions are the best. The "no jumping" crap in the others is lame.

We've got regular for xbox and giants for wii u (I have both for the DS because I'm not that bright )

My wife can't tell them apart, but my son speaks up the second he sees a new one . . . not very subtle.

Playing on the hardest difficulty... maybe. But this is how all games are, especially early nintendo games. Guess what? If you lose all your lives on the last level and you had to start all over from the very first level. No save points back then. So I think your point is very invalid.

I don't what they have done is make you buy figures which represent extra lives. I don't think the point was to compare this to older games but that to keep your kids from getting frustated by dying they want you to buy more figures.

The game is pretty easy, even on the hard setting. My 6 year old can make it through most levels and get the no lives lost achievement. The body count can add up quickly when my 3 year old joins in, but I don't think they have ever had to restart the chapter due to every character needing to rest.

I agree, it's a hit to the wallet, but the characters go for the same price as other action figures and my kids play with the toys more "offline" than they do in game.
