Good for him, I hope he's making $100 a unit, he's selling one to me cheaper than I can get it elsewhere, so I'm happy.

1. This guy is not a random ebay seller. I have seen him in business for a long time now and seems to be reputable/reliable which is probably why he can source them.

2. Don't know where he sources it from but I expect he is hooked into a overstock/liquidation network or has a personal deal with a B&M authorized reseller. It won't guarantee a regular supply, of course. Established B&M stores can get wholesale from Apple and many get a few hundred at a time for promotions, sweepstakes, etc., but may find themselves not being able to move them for whatever reason.

3. Apple seems to be relaxing its control on channels for iPads to move inventory being under so much financial scrutiny for revenue and market penetration so they may look the other way if an authorized B&M is discounting (e.g., Microcenter) or channeling into eBay sellers. You will likely see the new iPads being sold as refurbished at Apple outlet very soon which is Apple's way of moving inventory without having a "sale" in retail stores.

I am pretty sure this Johnnny guy from Van Nuys, CA is watching this forum.

Agree completely. I also estimate somewhere near that $100/unit myself. People are under-estimating it because they are thinking like random eBay sellers that flip a good retail deal from somewhere for a profit, not someone running a retail business.

this guy gets most, if not all, of his inventory from mexico or other south american region.

the pads you get are all spanish (retail) version.

There's nothing wrong with the statement. Tell me where the ipad 3 and 4 differ, why it matters, and why someone with a Ipad 3 should upgrade? Tell me what apps you have that require the ipad 4 processor. Tell me how the screen or size/weight is different.
