There are two issues. The coupon says it applies to "regularly priced items" but this drive is on sale, 120 down from 140. Second, the exclusions include computers. However at the register it did not show it as on sale. The CSR read the exclusions carefully, and pointed out the computer exclusion. I noted they usually say "technology" and this one was specific to computers and printers, he agreed, said "good catch" and it ran through. If you bump into the former issue only (on sale), try it on the Seagate 3gb, full price at $140, $98 AC. First thing I did was save the files on it to another drive and run chkdsk for bad sectors. http://www.speed-up-pc.org/speed_...tility.php Passed. Last edited by threebeers; 02-26-2013 at 04:13 PM.. just attempted the Office Depot deal
Failed at Garden Grove and Tustin (CA) stores, both time manager said these items were part of the "Computer" exclusion, even though i tried to point out it didnt exclude them... he tried to run the coupon and even the register would not accept it and he would not override. |

My local Office Depot said they think the coupon should work on the drive. I was already using the coupon on something else but I think I'll head back tomorrow with another one. The guy said he didn't see any issue with multiple visits/purchases, provided I had a physical coupon each time.

The manager at my OD was happy that I had a coupon before he even looked at it. The system didn't accept, but he overrode without prompting. Some combination of the bad weather, a completely empty store and it being 20 minutes before closing might have been a factor.
For those of you thinking about using this internally: Toshiba does [hardforum.com] track these drives, so you will need to re-case it for warranty purposes. The good news is that there are no tamper seals on the case. Here's a guide for removing the drive so you don't break the case: http://hardforum.com/showpost.php...stcount=30 |

I use the drive specific tool. My externals are all WD so I use their free Data Lifeguard Diagnostic software you can get right off the website. Toshiba has their own diagnostic tool on their website, as does Seagate ect... Just type "X hard drive diagnostic software" into google but replace X with the brand name.
