damn was going to jump on this deal which is great for its price, but after reading all the reviews on Newegg i think i'll have to pass and wait for another deal like this!

Ah I see. You do realize that drives are pretty much only manufactured by 2 or 3 companies now? Also, I would just love to try and cram 24 500Gb drives into my server...

Go on Newegg and try to find a drive listed as 5-eggs with more than 10 reviews. Even the WD 2TB blacks have 17% 1-egg reviews.

i would stay away from toshiba.. had bad experience lost all of my backed up data :-(

Warranty concerns aside, I think I may have finally found the perfect HDD for my new HTPC.

Stick two of these together in a RAID1 array and I'll be set. Quieter, and less energy, than the ACA (7200 RPM) version, and $20 cheaper at sale pricing. It's just for media storage (SSD for OS/Apps) so I can't see how speed would ever be an issue.

ive had mine for months now with weekly backups running. no issues. however, i did run a full sector scan before committing to this hardrive. this is something EVERYONE should do. if you have any bad sectors on an empty hardrive, you're better off RMA'ing it and getting a new one while you still can. ive done this on all my hardrives over the last decade and have never had one die on me, aside from the IBM deathstar. i mean deskstar.

I did the exact same thing. Picked this up for $69.99 during the Best Buy debacle. Now it happily sits on a shelf as a backup to my server's 3TB WD red.

Since this is Harddrive, so if you've shoprunning membership, then I think buying through Newegg is better as they ship via Fedex as compared to Amazon.com which send via UPS (It's just my experience, that I get my package delivered with a little more care with FexEx!)

I have this drive and love the speeds. I get 130 MB/s (not Mb/s) write on large files (video) and 90 MB/S on smaller files (mp3), it almost as fast as transfer between my internal SATA drives, this is definitely a SLICKDEAL!

Not very smart comparison. WD is a portable drive(much better deal). This one is not (AC power requires)

I bought it from NewEgg just now. Be prepared though, quite a few of us are going to receive dead or almost dead drives. Good luck to all. Remember, if the drive fails on you, you will have to pay for return shipping (+restocking for NE).
