Upgrading gaming system.
For under $200 I was looking to see what kind of upgrade on a motherboard + cpu combo on my system. I'm running on: Mobo: H55M-S2V Gigabyte CPU: LGA1156 i3-540 Memory: 4gb DDR3 I was wondering if this combo is the best for under $200: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applic...CatId=7250 With this setup, I'll have an upgraded CPU and a future proof motherboard and total of 8gb of memory. Please let me know what you guys think. Last edited by kaineo; 02-25-2013 at 09:19 AM.. |

Not worth it...CPU isn't too important when gaming...invest the money in a better video card or SSD, either will yield significantly more noticeable results than a new processor.
If you refer to your husband/wife as 'DH/DW', you're too old to be active on a forum.
If you ask for marriage advice on a(ny) forum, you should seriously reevaluate your life. If you don't know the difference between 'their', 'there', and 'they're', I automatically assume you have a mental disability (same goes for to/two/too and your/you're/yore). |

Since my motherboard doesn't support Crossfire and I got 2 ATI 4850's, I was thinking of upgrading the motherboard to take advantage of that. I don't think it would be worth it to buy another LGA 1156 motherboard since it is a discontinued socket.
When I say future-proof, I was thinking more along the line of being able to upgrade without paying with an arm and a leg. I understand with the rate in which technology is going at, that I'm gonna have to upgrade in the future. I tried BF3 with my current setup (without Crossfire) but it couldn't run it with 1 ATI 4850. I want to try out the Crossfire to see if there are any improvements before investing. Last edited by kaineo; 02-25-2013 at 10:13 AM.. |
