It is not a SATA interface inside. Well to be exact this is a SATA drive however WD decided to solder the USB 3.0 interface directly onto the drive itself.

that sucks, I never opened one. I have an external Seagate 2TB usb3 as my primary storage and also a few 750GB USB3 portables. Haven't noticed blazing speeds on either, expecting too much I guess.

Not sure, but I just watched a video of the same drive being taken apart. The guy was going to use it for his PS3 too, that's odd lol. He had a surprise on the inside when it wasn't SATA though. Youtube the drive.
