The optical drive filter isn't working. I'm looking for a blu-ray drive and the filter isn't working. Kind of frustrating to click through each notebook manually to check to see if has a blu-ray drive.

Pretty good deal...especially since you got the 1-year warranty. Very nice machine.

I just picked up a refurb Core i5-3210 G580 from the Lenovo outlet for $395 out the door. Certainly not as nice as that Sony, but nearly half the price. And Lenovo Outlet refurbs come with a 1-year warranty.

Thanks again OP! I grabbed a refurb Vaio S-15 with i53210m, 1080p IPS and 640m LE graphic 600$ after tax. Just wanna throw in my 2 cents. Vaio-S series advertised as business mobile class, which is somewhat superior to E-series. S-series is also much lighter at 4.4 pound for a 15" screen.

I picked up an S series last week and a few things.
First, the IPS screen is PHENOMENAL, even with the "Orangegate", which I dont even notice unless I look hard enough, is great.
1080p is def. better for being more productive on a screen of this size. Anything less than is 900p, to me, decreases productivity.

Also, if your like me, you hate all the bloatware and want to do a fresh install of Windows 7 or 8, be very careful. The driver support on Sony's website is TERRIBLE as best. As a matter of fact, a fresh install of Windows 8 isnt officially supported, it is recommended to upgrade from Windows 7. With that said, the guys over at this thread have done a GREAT job putting together where to get drivers, the order to install them, tips, tricks, etc. I would highly recommend checking this thread out before doing a clean install of Windows 7 or 8.

thanks for the information, I always do clean install no matter which brand of laptop i picked. It's called zero tolerance for bloatware. As of the "Orangegate", I heard they later fixed the problem, which was caused by the panel manufacture. I could be wrong though. But will find out when I get my S

I bought a S-Series, 13 inch screen with a blu-ray player. I thought about canceling order my order so I could reorder it over the phone with free 2-day shipping but the damn thing already sold out. Hopefully, my order made it through. After the 50% off fiasco, I'm going to be pissed if my order isn't fulfilled.
