thanks for the info. I did change the bios to legacy and I think I did disable windows update (always do). Need to read bit tihs with a bit more detail when I get a chance. but so far so good with win7
The instructions I provided is how I installed Windows 7 on My wife's new Sony $1200 Laptop. I understand it also works with other computer manufactures running the POS windows 8.
She had a top of the line Windows XP desktop that was trashed one week out of the box as a result of Windows update install a long time ago. Fortunately back then desktops came with restore disks and we did a complete system restore and shut off not only the windows update but the manufacture notification updates, and turned off all auto updates to programs she had running in addition to remote connection, assistance etc. In fact during the restore/registration process we made sure the wired internet connection was unplugged. Upon the first reminder to register the laptop I disabled the reminder from the registry.
Now we have 3 pc's, her XP desktop we used when billy bob's windows update trashed her windows 7 laptop, and a second laptop running 7 after 8 was exorcised from that one. Everything OFF. I need Microsoft like I need jehovah's witnesses knocking on my door at 7:00 am on weekends.
Didn't mean to rant but Microsoft is the plague! The link I provided is unbiased in fact they say updates are necessary its the users posting how Microsoft is seriously trying to and has F*** up their system and mine.
It's not a coincidence Microsoft also purposely bricked hundreds of thousand Xbox 360's after a MANDATORY (no less) console update. So you either updated or you couldn't play new games PERIOD! http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/...-affected/
